Tech

Since 2011, I have worked as a theatre and event technician in many capacities across the country. My primary focus is in audio and video installation, programming, live operation, and management; this experience includes my current position as the Audio/Visual Supervisor for Columbia University’s Theatre Arts program and similar work with companies such as The Acting Company, Atlantic Theatre Company, Target Margin Theatre, Nike, Five Ohm, and more. I’ve also worked front of house, box office, fly systems, lighting crews, carpentry, welding, and so much more.

Comedy

For many years, I have been an aspiring comedy writer and performer, specializing in short-form sketch and Harold-style improv. I am a graduate of the Upright Citizen’s Brigade sketch program and have studied and performed improv at the Kansas City Improv Company.

In my time making comedy, I have self-produced a few short filmed sketches as well as comedy podcasts such as Faux News and Let Me Be Clear.

Acting

Matt has spent most of his life acting. His favorite roles include Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, Milt in Laughter on the 23rd Floor, and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors. His passions are in broad, physical comedy, but he has also worked in musicals, dramas, and improvisational pieces. He has considerable experience in devised theatre, stage combat, puppetry, and the style of Commedia dell'Arte.

Matt was nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship through the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for his roles in The Underpants, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Ash Girl.

Directing

Since 2012, I have dabbled in directing for projects big and small, including the one-act Baby Food by David Lindsay-Abaire and the full-length dark comedy All New People by Zach Braff.

I also founded and served as President for the Student Theatre Group at UM-Flint.
